1. If I call in on 911 can I speak with other departments within the Sheriff's Office?

No- Since this is a line designated for EMERGENCIES only, a Communications Operator will answer the call and the
Operator is not able to transfer you to other departments within our office. To speak with other departments either call
(712) 957-3415 or (712) 957-5245 for the jail.

2. I can't remember when what time the school event is tonight, if I call can you tell me?

No-We don't have this information, we suggest you call the place where the event is being held, whether if it is a
school, church or other public events. If your not able to contact them call your local radio station or other people
attending the event.
3. Is there someone that is going to answer the phone if I call in the middle of the night?

Yes-We have staff on duty 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
4. If I call 911 do I need to tell you my phone number and address?

Yes-As time goes technology is advancing that is assisting us in automatically knowing where the call is coming from.
However new technology is not 100% accurate all the time. It is best if you are able to that you tell us your location and
phone number. This way if the information that we have is incorrect we will be able to find you with the information that
you provide to us. Also we will be able to update and correct any wrong information in the computer system.
