The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that on January 14, 2020 at 9:13 AM, the O’Brien County Communications Center received a report of a roll-over accident approximately half a mile east of Silver Ave and Highway 18. A Sanborn police officer responded and found the vehicle unoccupied. The Sanborn Officer later found the driver of the roll-over vehicle at the Sanborn Casey’s Convenience store.
The driver, Amber Lynn Dickinson of Sioux City, Iowa, informed the Sanborn Officer that she had a passenger named Zach. An O’Brien County Deputy located 23 year old, Zachary Robert Thomas Hayes, hiding behind Don’s Coop in Sanborn. The deputy found that Hayes was wanted on a $20,000 cash only warrant from Woodbury County for Parole Violation. The deputy arrested Hayes and later found that Hayes was in possession of approximately 180 grams of crystal methamphetamine’s.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office has charged Zachary Robert Thomas Hayes with the following:
Possession with the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine’s, 124.401(1)(B)(7), a class “B”felony.
Drug Tax Stamp Violation, 453B.12, a class “D” felony.
Possession of drug paraphernalia, 124.414, a simple misdemeanor.
Hayes appeared before the O’Brien County Magistrate and is being held in O’Brien County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond for the O’Brien County charges. Hayes is also being held on the Woodbury County Warrant, $20,000 cash only bond.
An accident report was filed and Amber Lynn Dickinson was charged with Failure to Maintain Control 321.288
